South Beach Cereal Bar Test

Since the South Beach Living Protein Fit Chocolate variety cereal bar was on sale last week at my local Kroger and I had a coupon as well, your Chocolate Priestess decided to buy it and give it a try.  Obviously the focus is on protein in this product but it isn't too bad on other items on the nutritional list.  1 bar, which measures 3.5 by 1.25 by 0.75 inches, has 140 calories composed of 3.5g saturated fat, 125mg sodium, 170mg potassium, 3g fiber, 7g sugars, 3g sugar alcohol, 8g protein and 10 different vitamins and minerals.  The label lists potential allergens as soy and milk but I also see oats and rice listed which I also know people can have allergies for.

The bar itself is clearly chocolaty and has a topped drizzled with chocolate made with cocoa not simply flavored thus I can review it here on The Chocolate Cult.  The primary scent are grains and sugar though there is a hint of chocolate.  This reflects the flavor as well though the cocoa builds up as you chew and take more bites.  The bar is very chewy and remains crunchy as I eat it, the drizzled chocolate is solid and smooth not waxy tasting.  Over all this isn't the most chocolaty cereal bar we've ever reviewed here but it isn't the worst tasting by far.  Supposedly they also have fiber fit versions as well so perhaps in the future I'll find these on sale, have a coupon, and give it a try for you all.

Sisters and Brothers, may you, too, take the time to slowly appreciate what the Divine and human ingenuity have offered you in chocolate.
