Chocolate Recalls for May 28, 2023

Unfortunately, we have a lot of recalls to share with you all today.

Next week's Chocolate Recalls post (if there needs to be one) will be the last for a month. Your Chocolate Priestess is taking a staycation break (which she has not did since 2019. DIBE LLC. of MIAMI, FL, is recalling its 6 ounces packages of "TETAS MIREYA SABOR NUTELLA, TODDY, FERRERO, GALLETA MARIA & GALLETA OREO " food popsicles because they may contain undeclared allergens:

People who have allergies to the mentioned allergens run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled "TETAS MIREYA SABOR NUTELLA, TODDY, FERRERO, GALLETA MARIA & GALLETA OREO " were distributed within the Florida State in retail stores including the chain Sedanos Supermarket

The product comes in 6 ounce, clear plastic package marked on the top and with an expiration date of 10/31/2023 stamped on the top of the packing

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered by an Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services supervisor at one retail store called Pastelitos Chips in Orlando, Fl. that the soy, wheat, and walnut-containing products were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of soy, wheat, and/or walnuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes.

Production of the product has been suspended until Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the company are certain that the problem has been corrected.

Consumers who have purchased 6 ounce packages of "TETAS MIREYA SABOR NUTELLA, TODDY, FERRERO, GALLETA MARIA & GALLETA OREO " are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream Recall

BROOKLYN, N.Y., May 23, 2023 -- Van Leeuwen Ice Cream of Brooklyn, NY is voluntarily recalling 4,096 frozen 14 oz pints of its French Ice Cream product "Brown Sugar Chunk” because it contains an undeclared allergen, walnuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled products are distributed nationally in retail stores. The product comes in a 14-ounce reddish brown package with black lettering on the cup and lid, as reflected in the image below. The product is marked with lot number 23P102 (Best By Date April 12, 2025) which is displayed on the bottom of the pint. The recall does not apply to any other lot marking, best by date, or varieties of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream products.


The recall was voluntarily initiated after a customer complaint led to the discovery that the ice cream in this lot contains walnuts but was distributed in packaging that did not declare the presence of walnuts. The cause of the product labeling error is being investigated.

Consumers who have purchased the impacted lot should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Lamontagne Chocolate Recalls

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 23, 2023 – Meijer, in conjunction with its supplier, Lamontagne Chocolate Corp., is announcing a recall of Frederik’s Dark Chocolate Almonds and Meijer Express Go Cup Dark Chocolate Almonds because they may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recall includes stand-up pouches carried at Meijer stores and to-go cups carried at Meijer Express locations in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. All date codes from both products are impacted. Meijer has not received any customer complaints or claims of illness associated with this recall to date.

The following products are part of the recall:

UPC: 7-60236-19787-4 Meijer Express Go Cups Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds (7.5 oz.) All

The products may contain an undeclared milk allergen due to a product specification change from the supplier, Lamontagne Chocolate Corp., which was not communicated to Meijer.

Customers that have impacted products should discontinue use and return the product to the customer service desk at any Meijer store for a full refund. Customers with questions regarding this recall can contact Meijer at 800-543-3704 from 7 a.m.-1 a.m. EDT daily. Tastykake Recall

Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE: FLO) is voluntarily recalling certain Tastykake® Chocolate Kandy Kakes due to undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The product being recalled was distributed on May 11, 2023 to retail customers in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, and West Virginia. The packages have an “Enjoy By” date of June 5, 2023 on the side of the package, and UPC 0 25600 00225 4.

The recall was initiated after the firm discovered that certain packages of Tastykake® Chocolate Kandy Kakes contained Tastykake® Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes. The ingredient statement for the Chocolate Kandy Kakes does not declare that peanuts are in the product. No related illnesses or incidents have been reported to date.

Following is information about the product involved in the recall. People allergic to peanuts should not consume this product if the “Enjoy By” date, UPC and/or Product Code below are printed on the package.
