Best Chocolate of 2020

Best Chocolate We Tested in 2020

At the end of the year, we look back at all of the products we have been honored to test out and write about here on The Chocolate Cult. It is from that group that we name our "Best of."

Previous Best of the Year on The Chocolate Cult:

The MilkShake Factory (2019)

Hedonist Chocolate (2018)

Ococoa (2017)

Equal Exchange (2016)
Chocion (2015)

Michel Cluizel (2014)

Askinosie Chocolate (2013)

TCHO (2012)

American Heritage Chocolate (2011)

Guittard (2010)

Theo Chocolate (2009)

These are the brands, companies, and individual creators who sent us their products to test out and review for you all in 2020. Those marked with a * are in the running for "Best Chocolate of 2020" on The Chocolate Cult blog. Before the list, I want to say that I was disappointed by 2020 in terms of this blog. You would think that as people were turning to order online more and more, that brands would turn to blogs to get the word out about their products. That wasn't the case. For the first time since this blog was created in 2009, we did not have a Halloween Treat Challenge winner. Picking from the slim number of products that qualified was a bit sad to do, but we did pick our best of 2020 nonetheless. You'll see that announcement below.

Now for the Best Chocolate we had in 2020:

Fanny May (2020)

To be blunt, for the over all consistency of their chocolate as well as the variety we were sent, Fanny May  was the choice this year. Other chocolate makers has fancier products and more variety but the testing results were more haphazard for the few assistants that I could get samples to this year.

I don't know what 2021 will hold for The Chocolate Cult. We have done our best to maintain this blog and to adhere to standards for the products we test and write about. I hope that brands will come back.

If you find this blog useful at all, please leave comments so that brands can see that this is a blog that offers service that other foodie blogs do not. We test and we write about products with full sensory descriptions so that you the reader can make a wise choice of where to spend your money.

I really appreciate your reviews. I have not been into a grocery store in months, I order and pick up my food. So I am not going to bother with something unless I know it will be good. With your reviews, I know what to buy and what to skip. Thank you!
This makes my week!

All any of us who help make this blog happen, is to help others make the best decisions about chocolate that they can.
