Haagan daz has a chocolate caramel sea salt that is pretty tasty. They used to have a Mexican chocolate with chili and cinnamon that I absolutely loved but I think they discontinued it.
That sounds yummy.

I didn't post my favorite because in general, I find most chocolate ice cream to lack a real chocolate taste to them. Plus we review varieties here so I think that makes it a bit harder for me to pick one I favor above all others.

I agree with you, Chocolate Priestess. I find most chocolate ice cream to be disappointingly un-chocolately. I prefer vanilla ice cream with hot fudge or chocolate sauce on top.
I'm happy to read that others have a similar reaction to chocolate ice cream. I think it may be the other ingredients plus the cold that dulls the chocolate flavor. I think adding chocolate on top is a good solution though I tend to let my ice cream melt a bit and stir up it. My father called that "ice cream soup" so I blame him for that tendency of mine.

That said, when we've tested a brand or flavor that stands out, we do mention that fact in our articles.

Cold definitely dulls the sense of taste. That's why I like the hot fudge sauce. And even Miss Manners admits that everyone secretly wants to stir their ice cream into soup, however disgusting it may look. She says you can get away with it, if you distract your dining partners with scintillating conversation. LOL
LOL. Well, if Miss Manners says I can, then I'll continue doing it.
