Looking for a Chocolatey Meal Replacement?

It is a new year and that means that some of us are thinking of trying to diet again. Or maybe you are looking for a fast full meal without a lot of prep. I was sent a box of the chocolate WonderFit Advanced Protein Meal Replacement Shake to test out and review for the Amazon Vine program last summer.  I tried it two ways that were listed on the box -- a drinkable shake and a spoonable pudding -- and today to help those of you already tiring of dieting, I'm going to share my experiences with both versions. Please note that if you click on any of my links, that I am an Amazon associate and I will get a tiny amount of money if you end up buying anything. However, no other form of compensation for received for sharing my honest experience with you all today.

I did this testing a bit backwards by starting with the pudding recipe first. It was a warm day, I wanted something extra and I thought a cool quick pudding would be a good option. Making it was simple -- dump in the mix, add in 4 ounces of cold water, and then whisk it all. It set up quickly but I put it in the refrigerator to make it colder to eat. After an hour, it was set up firmer but when I spooned it up, it looked fluffy like an average pudding. It had an average chocolate meal replacement scent to it, which means I smelled the cocoa first but then a mixture of other generic fragrances that don't trigger any particular ingredient in my mind. The pudding was smooth and slightly creamy when I took a bite. The initial flavor was much like the scent -- cocoa followed by generic other flavors -- but then the sweetness started to kick in and it was intense. The sweetness slowed down how quickly I wanted to eat it, it was just too sweet compared to the chocolate I wanted to taste and which I hoped would be more intense with half the water of the shake recipe. I could eat this for a meal replacement if I had to, but I wouldn't choose this as a dessert replacement.

I try to be fair to every product that is sent to me, so I also tried the shake recipe on the box which uses 8 ounces of cold water but is otherwise identical to the pudding. I hoped it might have more of a chocolate flavor and less sweetness but that wish wasn't great based on the fact that this was double the water and should damp down all the flavors, it was just thinner. I cannot recommend this and threw out the rest of the box.

I know these things serve a useful purpose for some people, but I hope I never need to eat them!
I suppose if one had oral surgery or something like that, meal replacements like these might work, but this wasn't good so I wouldn't recommend it even then.
