Pro Fuel for a Full Summer

Let's start off July with a look at another line of products from PROBAR this time their Fuel line which are energy bars designed to help you get through your afternoons of work without turning to junk food or energy drinks. They have five dessert themed energy bars and only one has chocolate but it also has coconut so I turned this testing over to our Chocolate Coconut Acolyte, Lisa, to try out and reveal to you all. PROBAR sent us this sample of the Fuel bars in exchange for an objective and honest feature article; no other form of compensation as received.

Here is Lisa's report on the Coconut Dream Fuel. Opening the wrapper I don't detect any predominant scent and the bar is very soft and moist but not sticky.  Looking closely I can't really identify any particular ingredient other than nuts of some sort.  Date paste is the first ingredient on the list which explains the high sugar content (22 grams of sugar) and the lack of chocolate or coconut scent. By comparison, the bar also has 3 grams saturated fat, 6 grams dietary fiber, and 3 grams of protein. Chocolate chips are listed second but the dates overpower all the other flavors.  Almonds and cashews add a nice crunch. The chia seeds aren't visible but I like chia so I'm glad they're included. While this may be a good bar for a quick energy fix, I can't recommend it if you're looking for either chocolate or coconut in your energy bar.

The PROBAR Fuel line comes in 12 packs if you buy them online or you might find them in many different brick and mortar stores around the USA. The Fuel line includes not just the Coconut Dream but four other flavors all dessert themed and all gluten free. Have you tried any of them? If so, please leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
