Winter holidays are upon some of us and coming fast for others of us, aren't they Sisters and Brothers in Chocolate? Our first holiday related feature article looks at a double tin gift package of Swedish Truffles from the Dream of Swedish AB folks who make their creations in Sweden! This set has two flavors – caramel and sea salt – and the truffles have a traditional look to them. We'll get to all of that soon, but first legalities. We received one free set of these chocolate to test and write about through the Amazon Vine program; this article is an unexpected bonus for Amazon and the brand; no further compensation was received for sharing our experience with you all.

As you know, you can make truffles from all types of chocolate and it is common to have more than one type in a single truffle such as a white center (ganache) with a dark chocolate outside or any combination... or at least that is how many people think of truffles. There are generally two types of chocolate truffles – the soft shell variety (probably the oldest version of these created likely between 1890 and 1920 with different food historians claiming it ror different chefs and in various countries during those three decades) and the hard shell type (made in 1912 by Jean Neuhaus though he called them "pralines" at that time. All truffles should be made to the same standards as other chocolate products and that is where these immediately fail – instead of cocoa butter, they use coconut fat.

That means as good as these look, they do not qualify for further testing on The Chocolate Cult. So disappointing!
Of course, you are still free to buy them if you wish.
