A Surprise Candy Shop Find in Avon, Indiana

It has been a while since the last On the Road post here on The Chocolate Cult. This find was a surprise that came at the perfect time for me and my family because of the reason we were up in Avon, Indiana, at all. A friend of ours for over two decades moved back to the state because of an illness she will be coping with for the rest of her life and she invited us up to visit before she had to move into assisted living. While it was good to visit with her, it was also very emotionally difficult to see the current that she is in and to know that it will not get better. Thus when I looked down the strip mall where we were to get lunch together and saw a sign proclaiming "The Fudge Kettle" I knew I had to check it out.

The shop apparently has a issue with ducks many mornings but we didn't see any of them nor any feathers. The clerk said she had to deal with these again before opening up. That information was the opening delight of the shop itself.

When you first walk in you notice the counter and displays of the inhouse made chocolates and fudge. I bought the items in the next photo from the display case in this section of the store. They were are dark except for the giant peanut butter cup. I loved them all though the ratio of peanut butter to chocolate in the cup means that I wouldn't buy it again.

I didn't have any of my blog cards with me, so we just planned to buy a few items. My family got just a couple of things from the other side of the shop which sold mostly store branded candies but also so tee-shirts, stickers, and other a couple other brands of candy.

I would recommend The Fudge Kettle in Avon, Indiana. The next time I'm up there (if ever) I'll bring a my business card for this blog and see if they'd like to be interviewed or features for another post.
