Today, December 13th, is one of two Hot Chocolate Days on the Chocolate Calendar; the other is on January 31st. In honor of that and for those of you still looking for holiday gifts, I want to share my experiences with the HJOCMLE Oversized Ceramic Chocolate Cup with Hot Cocoa Powder that I received through the Amazon Vine program. The product was sent to me free in exchange for writing an honest review of my experience with the item; this article on The Chocolate Cult is an unexpected bonus. No other form of compensation was received for this article, but if you follow my link to it, I may get a tiny amount of money should you decide to purchase it.
You can order the mug with or without the cocoa mix and mini whisk; I recommend without because as you may have noticed in the first photo, the included mix just doesn't fill even one-half the mug. The words on the mug are strange, "Money Gone Chocolate Wow," but perhaps they are claiming this product is well worth the price which by standards in the USA is very moderate. The whisk could quickly become painful to hold since it is only wire and it only works if you made the 4 ounces recommended not more which the mug can clearly hold. That said, the mug itself is large yet fits in my hands well, the handle and finger/thumb hole is positioned well. The ceramic transmits the heat so be careful with it.
The cocoa mix looked fairly normal and it mixed find with boiling water. The resulting beverage was weak, tasting more of water than chocolate. Therefore you should check out the mug but not spend extra for the cocoa mix or whisk.
