Tomorrow, August 4th, is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day.
We've covered bakery made fresh chocolate chip cookies, big brand boxed chocolate chip cookies, and shared chocolate chip cookie recipes. Today I'm sharing Ultimate Nutrition's Protein Cookie Bites that I received for free from the Amazon Vine program in exchange for a review on their website; this is an unexpected bonus for the brand and for Amazon. Keep reading and learn if these are worth your mouth and your money.
The first thing to note about these cookies is that these are real chocolate chips made with chocolate liquor and cocoa butter, no added and unnecessary fats here. However, a word of caution, one small bag of these has 5 servings of the tiny cookies and that comes out to 450 calories! At just 4 grams of protein per servings, that's really not a lot of protein for the calories. I'm pointing that all this out to you because the information on the bag is misleading. The front claims that you'll get 21 grams of protein per bag making it seem like a bag is one serving then you look at the nutritional label and the ingredients and learn the truth.
The cookies themselves as you can see are small and very plain though you can see the little chocolate chips in them. They have a strong vanilla taste to the cookie part but the chip are definitely chocolate while the scent of the cookies is a mix of that chocolate and flour really. They make a little crunch when you bite and chew them but they are not hard, they did tend to dry out my mouth as I ate even one cookie so have something to drink on hand. Basically they tasted like what you'd get if you added mini milk chocolate chips to Nabisco vanilla wafer cookies and then look like that, too.
However you get your chocolate chip cookies to celebrate tomorrow's fun food holiday, I hope you enjoy it.
