November is National Games Month, so I'm going to start off the month with a card game that I was sent through the Amazon Vine program to test out and review. While I got the game for free, I do pay taxes on it after a certain point and I'm always honest about my experience with the items I test and review. I'll go into more depth for all of you here on The Chocolate Cult about the chocolatey nature of the game. Not other form of compensation was received for my review or for this post.
Snack Smash! is a quick game that is similar to a lot of card collecting games out there. You have to get a full set of one each of the five types of snacks included in the game. Those types are – Candy, Chip, Chocolate, Cookie, and Popcorn. From the images, both the Chocolate and Cookie are shown with chocolate, but in real life, you could have chocolate with any of these snacks!
There are also Action and Special cards that you use as you play the game. The directions on what to do with the card is clear. That you can both play a snack type card and an action/special card was a point of debate in my testing group. I'll talk about the directions for how to to play the same later in this post.
All of the cards are brightly colored, have cute designs, and feel great in adult sized hands.
Playing the game is easy, but getting it started requires you to make decisions because in the tiny instructions, it doesn't explicitly tell you how you get cards to begin or how many if you do, nor does it say how to figure out who should start. The directions were annoyingly small and difficult to read. The back of the sheet is 75% empty, so the company could easily have made the print larger and added in the missing information.
The really cool thing about this game is the box because it has a tab that lets you easily pull it free. It can be frustrating to get box and lid to work together or to unfold flaps, but you avoid those hassles with this packaging.
If you follow the link to Snack Smash! and buy it, I will get a tiny affiliation fee, but you will not pay more for the game. This might make a great stocking stuffer if the person you get it for has great eyesight and is willing to make decisions about how to start the game.
