There are now so many cereal, energy, and snack bars one can find in the
local supermarkets that sometimes your Chocolate Priestess feels overwhelmed. During my last shopping trip the Chocolate Chunk variety of Chex Mix Bars were on sale and I had a coupon so I picked up a box to try. Both of the bars types from Chex have chocolate so I'm sure I'll try the other variety in the future.
Each bar is 1.2oz and measures 4X1.25X0.75 inches. It is very sticky especially on the bottom but it crunches very soundly when you bite in and as you chew it. As you can see in the photo
to the left, the pretzels, Chex pieces, and chocolate pieces are visible when you first open the wrapper. There is a chocolate scent but also a very sweet scent which makes sense when you see all the various sugars on the ingredients list though to be fair, milk chocolate chunks are the third item on that list after whole wheat flour and high maltose corn syrup. Each bare has 140 calories, 135mg sodium, 2g fiber, 13g sugars, 2g protein, and 2% of the daily iron an adult needs. In terms of nutrition then it is not as good as the cereal and energy bars I've looked at previously.
Sometimes you just want something that tastes good and this does taste good. The primarily flavor is chocolate but the sugariness is very strong as well. If you have allergies to wheat, milk or soy, don't eat this but unlike the traditional Chex mix recipe you may make at home it also has no tree nuts or peanuts. It will stick to your fingers and to your teeth so think about that before chowing down on it. Considering what I paid for it on sale and with a coupon it was well worth the money for this treat. I just can't say it is as good for me as other bars I've looked at so far.
Sisters and Brothers, may you too take the time to slowly appreciate what the Divine and human ingenuity have offered you in chocolate.
