So sorry, Sisters and Brothers, that this post is so late. The end of the year and the beginning has been a challenge with my continued arm injury and resulting very limited writing as well as a death in the extended family.
So without further waiting, here are the fun food holidays you can mark with chocolate this month. Let me know if you have others (along with links to information about them) and please do let me know when and how you celebrate.
January 2 = Feast Day of St. Macarius the Younger, 4th century patron of confectioners -- now, of course in the 4th century in the Old World they didn't know what chocolate was and even in the New World it may have just been taking form but hey, I bet he would have liked chocolate, don't you?
January 3 = National Chocolate Filled Cherry Day -- how do you get chocolate into the cherries?
January 5 = National Whipped Cream Day -- I've seen chocolate whipped cream. Anyone out there ever make it?
January 6 = National Shortbread Day -- you could dip in chocolate or I bet make chocolate varieties of it.
January 8 = National English Toffee Day -- we've covered our fair share of English Toffee and you know what they need? More chocolate!
January 10 = Bittersweet Chocolate Day -- not just for baking and candy making but good on it's own
January 19 = National Popcorn Day -- we just had gourmet chocolate popcorns last month so go check those featured reviews out
January 23 = National Pie Day -- lots of chocolate versions
January 27 = National Chocolate Cake Day -- again more chocolate versions
January 30 = National Croissant Day -- drizzled or baked inside, you can make it chocolate

The lose is more my partner's but of course everything that affects a family member affects you as well.
My injury -- I can say and will continue to say that I didn't do it to myself this time. In fact I'm thinking of a contacting a lawyer because this has pushed back the third book of a trilogy by almost three months now. That's not any way for a professional author to behave. I never do, I always meet deadlines.
