After Halloween let's turn to something chocolatey that won't increase your weight (much) and that could be a great stocking stuffer or small gift for those in your life who like to add a bit of color to themselves and who love chocolate. Way back at the beginning of the year, I won a giveaway that featured nail polish inspired by DOVE Chocolate along with a milk chocolate DOVE bar. We've featured DOVE before so I don't need to go into their bars here plus the giveaway was sponsored by O P I so let's focus on the nail polish -- two bottle of it in chocolatey shades.
Why am I good person to talk about nail polish? I'm not a big make-up user but I do love to color my nails because it doesn't trigger my allergies, applying it creates a built in "just sit back and relax" period that I need in my life, and you can play around with it to make your own styles. In this photo you can see just my "brown/earth tone" bottles of polish.
I have two large cookie tins that I store all of my various colors in. I keep a staple of nail polish removers, filter and base coats, and protective coats around. Once I put nail polish on, I'd like it to last though with all of my hands-on activities usually 3-4 days are all it takes before mine start to chip. No problem! Remove and apply a new color or colors.
The two bottles of Nicole by OPI are called "Better After Dark" (the lighter one) and "Promises in the Dark" (the darker one). You can tell just from the bottles that they are different depths of brown. They applied as expected for nail polish plus they didn't have a nasty scent which I find to be a bonus.
It is difficult to tell in the bottle though how they will look on so here is a photo of my hands where I've painted the two colors side by side so you can see them. I used my normal filter and base coats but no top protective coat so you see the chocolate colors as close to their real color as possible. What do you think? I think the darker one, "Promises in the Dark" is almost black once you get it on and the lighter one, "Better After Dark" is a bit too red for chocolate really.
Did you get a chance to use the two DOVE inspired nail polishes? If so, please let me know what you thought about them. If you didn't, do you think these are colors you might add to your own nail repertoire? I think chocolate colored nail polish and small but good quality chocolate bars make an excellent holiday gift in general. Let me know if you've tried other brands cocoa colored polish in the comments below.
