30 Minutes for Meals but Only 3 Chocolatey Treats

It has been a while since I got Good Cheap Eats Dinner in 30 Minutes (or Less!) by Jessica Fisher. I tried a few of the recipes before I wrote a review on Amazon.com but I kept getting more and more chocolate and dessert focused cookbooks to review that I nearly forgot about this one until one day I happened upon it in my office. Sorry Ms. Fisher to have put off this article for so long but I am finally getting to it. I received this book for free from the Amazon Vine Program in exchange for a fair and honest review; this article is an unexpected bonus for the publisher and author. No other form of compensation was received.

For a book with so many quick recipes in 9 categories, it disappointed me that only three recipes had cocoa or chocolate in them and all three were in the "Desserts on the Double" chapter at the end. Of course, other recipes could have chocolate added to them. These recipes were so simple that I didn't feel much need to try them out unless I had the ingredients on hand.

"Decadence Sundaes with Caramel-Lime Sauce" (page 296) uses chocolate cookie crumbs but really isn't much effort to make beyond the sauce that uses nothing chocolatey.

"Black and White Trifle" (page 300) uses cocoa powder, chocolate sauce, block of chocolate or mini chocolate chips. I don't actually have a trifle dish but if you do, give it a try.

"Chocolate Fondue with Fruit and Cake" (page 301) uses chocolate chips and it looks exactly like a million other easy fondue recipes that I've seen elsewhere.

If you are pressed for time I will say that all of the recipes are easy and fast to make IF you have the ingredients on hand. Honestly since I always have chocolate on hand, I was really hoping there would be more recipes so I'd have a good shot at having the ingredients on hand to test them out.
