Chocolate Recalls for May 21, 2023

After a couple of weeks of breaks from chocolate related recalls, here we go again.

Does anyone else dream of a world where there is enough inspection and care put into the production of food and beverages that this doesn't happen?

Hu Chocolate Recall

Austin, TX – May 17th, 2023 – Hu Products announced today a voluntary recall in the United States of a single production lot of Vanilla Crunch Dark Chocolate Bar product (2.1 oz bar) because some packages may potentially contain undeclared hazelnut, cashew, and/or almond that were inadvertently added to the product during manufacturing. People who are sensitive or have allergies to hazelnut, cashew, and/or almond could be at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

This recall is limited to one lot code (L2343C) of the Hu Vanilla Crunch Dark Chocolate Bar (2.1 oz. bar), which was sold nationwide in retail stores and online in the United States. No other Hu products are affected by this recall.

The product being recalled is the following: Vanilla Crunch Dark Chocolate Bar, Item UPC: 850180006206, Lot Code & Best By Date: L2343C - 12/09/2024

There have been no adverse events reported to Hu Products to date in connection with this product to date.

Consumers who are sensitive or have allergies to hazelnut, cashew, and/or almond should not eat this product and should discard any product they may have. Consumers should contact the company at 1-855-535-5948 to get more information about the recall. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Colostrum Recall

Nature’s Energy of Pleasant Grove, UT is voluntarily recalling Children’s Chewable Colostrum because it may contain undeclared milk allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The following products are being recalled Childrens Chewable Colostrum Berry, Chocolate and Orange Creamsicle flavors. 180 count.

     Berry Chewables, 180 count, UPC 804879183945 GTIN 860008676979, LOT # 660, Best By 02/24 and LOT # 694, Best By 12/24.

      Chocolate Chewables, 180 count, UPC 804879183952 GTIN 860008676986, LOT # 661, Best By 02/24 and LOT # 695, Best By 12/24.

     Orange Creamsicle Chewables, 180 count, UPC 804879183969 GTIN 860008676993, LOT # 634, Best By 08/23, and LOT # 693, Best By 12/24.

No illnesses or deaths have been reported to date in connection with these products.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Colostrum containing product was distributed in packaging that did not indicate the presence of milk proteins.

This recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Customers with a milk allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the affected product are urged not to consume the product and dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.
