I'd rather be focused on my annual holiday party today, but I must share more chocolate related recall news with you all. You know the drill by now, right?

Chocolate Coins Recall

Bayonne, NJ. (December 1st , 2023) – Manischewitz, is recalling Manischewitz Dark Chocolate Coins because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The Manischewitz Dark Chocolate Coins were distributed to stores nationwide, predominantly located in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut regions, during the weeks of September 26th, 2023 through November 28th, 2023.

This recall was initiated after the company was notified by their Quantity Control Department that a limited number of bags labeled as “Dark Chocolate Coins” contained Milk Chocolate Coins, which contains milk allergen that is not declared on the label. All dairy Milk Chocolate Coins are wrapped in Gold Foil within a Blue Netting and all non-dairy Dark Chocolate Coins are wrapped in Silver Foil within a Red Netting.

Only packages bearing the Lot Code below, may potentially have gold (dairy) coins in the “dark-chocolate tagged” bag.

Stores and Consumers can easily decipher if the product in question is labeled incorrectly. As indicated in the Images below.

The company has received no reports of illness or injury to date.

We immediately informed all retailers who had purchased this lot code about this recall and instructed them inspect their inventory or remove any potential affected product on their shelves.

Consumers who may have purchased this product are advised to inspect their product if gold foil coins are in the dark chocolate bags and discontinue use immediately. Consumers may return the product for credit or refund. If a consumer experiences an allergic reaction they are urged to report to a medical provider. This recall is being made with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration.

Pan de Racho Recalls

Lara’s Bakery 3 LLC of Marshalltown, IA is recalling Pan de Racho, Panque, and Pan Surtido (Concha, Cema, Polvoron, Flan, Chocoflan, Tres Leches, Tostado de Guatemala, Pan de Guatemala, Canasta, Garibaldi, Marianas, Muffin, Pan Fino, Pastel de Glass, Pan de Trigo, Puerco, Bolillo, Telera), because it contains undeclared sesame seed, coconut, soy, wheat, milk, and egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to specific sesame seed, coconut, soy, wheat, milk and egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Pan de Racho, Panque, and Pan Surtido were distributed in Iowa and Wisconsin by direct delivery to retail stores.

Pan de Racho can be identified by individually packed and it contains sesame seeds and colorful pink color stripes, and it’s packed in a clear plastic bag and label. Panque is in a clear plastic bag individually packed and labeled. Flan,Chocoflan and Tres Leches are packed in clear container and labeled Pan Surtido is Identified in metal trays. The product has been delivered by direct delivery thru November 28,2023.


We have had no illnesses reported to date. These products would be suspended until Lara’s Bakery is certain that the problem has been corrected.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that products containing sesame, coconut, soy, wheat, milk, and eggs were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of these allergens. The product had already been distributed to retail stores in the state of Iowa and Wisconsin.

We ask our customers to return the recalled Pan de Racho, Panque, Flan, Chocoflan, Tres Leches, and Pan Surtido product that they have purchased for a refund by contacting us at (641)752-0152 or come to our location at 701 N 3rd Ave Suite C, Marshalltown IA 50158.
