Justin's vs Reese's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Showdown

Today's Peanut Butter Cup Showdown features the dark varieties of Justin's and Reese's. I used coupons to help with the cost of these products to compare, but I also bought and tested these back in early March 2025, before prices went even higher.

The Justin's cup didn't break as easily when I cut it and as you can see it is flakey, dry, but thicker than the Reese's. The Justin's is slightly lighter in color so we'll start with it in the comparison so I'm testing from less to more cacao content. Oddly the Justin's has a stronger chocolate fragrance while the Reese's is more even between flavors. Justin's radius is just under 2 inches while the Reese's is 1/16th wider than the Skinny Dipped cup we compared last time to Justin's.

The Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup has a fragrance which is a mix of slightly sweet chocolate and peanut, but it doesn't smell strongly of either. When I cut a cup in half, the inside as flakey and it is dry as well as almost bland. The chocolate coating builds up in intensity with each bite and it does make a sound with each bite as well testifying to the fact that it is thick. The chocolate is a good balance of sweet and bitter, but the peanut butter truly disappoints. One cup is 110 calories or 220 per pack.

The Reese's Dark Peanut Butter Cup Thin's primary flavor is the slightly dark chocolate that is the first and third flavor. I'm guessing this may be a 50% or 55% cacao. The peanut butter is quite sweet and rather a thin layer as you can see in the photo. While the chocolate isn't soft, I had to cut it, it makes no sound when I take a bite or chew it. The aftertaste lingers a bit and is strong combination of the slightly bitter with the sweet leaning more toward the sweet peanut butter. One cup is approximately 53.3 calories.
