With less government oversight and less reliance on science throughout the society I grew up in and am a member of, I can understand why a brand might decide to change the packaging of their products. Take for instance the Cocoa Poppers that are in "Tamper Evident Tubs" from the same brand, Toad-Ally Snax, that we covered in December 2025. You can check out that review article here. I got this plastic tub version of the poppers also through the Vine program in exchange for a review on Amazon; no other form of compensation for today's article was received.
The first thing to note is that while you can see into the tub, that didn't prevent the little white candies that cover the top of each dark chocolate half dome from coming out of the container into the bag they were shipped in. In fact, so many of those candies were loose that when I opened the bag a lot spilled out across my dining room table and even onto the floor. I was not pleased. That the candies could get out means that someone could put something inside as well, so while it may make you feel better about being able to see tampering, I really don't think it would.
These Cocoa Poppers are the same size as before, 1.25 inches diameter and over a quarter of an inch thick. The cost per ounce is much lower in this new container. Since the price of cocoa beans has not lowered at all, the difference in costs of packages may be reflected in this better price. However, these do not taste as strongly of chocolate, the light bitter edge they had before has been replaced with more sweetness strongly suggesting that these have less cocoa mass/liquor than the previous version we shared with you last year. I still like these, but I don't love them because of that. Therefore these do not earn Sacrament status which is sad.
